January Wrap Up

What I finished this month
So this month I actually managed to finish two projects. I’ll be honest I actually started them both in December, but who’s keeping track of that!
I finished my Fun on Fridays Hexa-Granny top (a pattern will be release soon hehe). I have already had two requests to make this for other people, which I’m quite happy about. One of my main motivations for creating this top is because in December and at the beginning of the month I noticed that the majority of my winter clothing was so dark and I needed a pop of colour added in to my wardrobe. Now I know we are on our way out of winter now but I made this top to be wearable in both winter and spring. It can be layered but also worn on it’s own.

What I started/made progress on
I made a fair amount of progress on my granny squares for my granny square blanket, I’m now on 119 out of 225. I feel like I’m so close but so far. I get really excited that I’m getting so close to finishing all the squares but then I remember that I have to sew them all together at the end.

I have also started on a pratice project. So I’ve got this idea for a project and I wanted to try it out first before I started it with the yarn that I have put aside for. I’m currently testing the main body of the piece in HDC but I’m thinking that Tunisian Crochet might be better for it.

What books did I read
I finished 3 books this month which are:
1. Lunar New Year Love Story by Gene Luen Yang.
This is a super cute YA graphic novel romance book, following Valentina Tran as she tries to navigate romance and having a single dad. This book was so good because it explored more than just the romance, it explored the deeper emotions of Valentina and her friends, as well as the love interests.
2. Funny Story by Emily Henry
Listen, I love Emily Henry books, sometimes I just need a bit of romance. Funny Story is about Daphne, who moved to a new town with her fiance – Peter, made new friends and got a new job. But after Peter’s stag night, he comes back and breaks up with her, to be with his childhood best friend – Petra. Daphne then moves in with Petra’s ex boyfriend Miles.
3. To Cage a God by Elizabeth May
This is a Russian inspired fantasy book about two sisters Sera and Galina, whos mother bound dragon Gods to their bones when they were young. With the country on the brink of was the two sisters need to work on seperate missions to bring down the destructive Royal Family.
