Finding the Time

As some of you may or may not know, I have a full time job, so finding the time to crochet can be quite hard. Especially when I work from home, I swear my yarn stares at me and I can almost hear it saying “play with us”.

So where do I find the time? One thing about me is that I need time before I start work in the morning. Meaning that I get up a couple of hours before I start work, even when I’m working from home. I like having my relaxing morning coffee and having some time before the stress of work begins.

During the couple of hours I like to crochet a couple of rows, with my coffee by my side and either my audiobook or whatever I’m watching at the time on in the background this would be my office project. The issue with this is that I ususally have to set an extra alarm to make sure I’m aware of the time haha. If I don’t have that “You need to leave” I wouldn’t leave for work!

After work, because I walk, I can destress on my walk home I generally pick up my living room project.

One problem that I have is that I have put yarn on the walls in my office and sometimes instead of working on my project I end up staring and touching the yarn that I have waiting for the perfect project to fit the yarn.

The thing is, I’m always trying to think of something to make. And I know that I am very very lucky to have as much yarn as I do but sometimes I don’t feel like I have enough for all the things I want to make. And I often feel like I don’t have the time – literally what this post is about.

At this point I think I’m just rambling. I don’t have a solution to how to time manage properly.

This is insanely relatable! I own a business about crochet and mental health, but the sheer lack of time I have to actively crochet… is crazy! When I have long breaks in my finished project updates, it is because I am working on something large (like a shirt for myself) but I can only work on the project for an hour or so a day, if that. 😅

I know you think your time management sucks, but I think you have a good routine. That bit of time in the morning to relax and coming home to sit with a project are great ways to work in a little self-care. Don’t be too hard on yourself, life is hard but I think you are doing a good job of still finding time for yourself. ♡

Thank you so much! I hate having breaks between postings but sometimes its just necessary because there is already too much pressure, I don’t want to be putting extra pressure on something that I really enjoy doing!

As I sit here contemplating my business choices, I am grateful you take that approach! It really is about enjoying yourself and your well-being. Some of us [coughmecough] have lost that feeling when it became about making a living or… you know… the alternative to having no money. 😅

I recently started making more hats for no reason other than the fact I love making hats. I do it for myself and sometimes forget to take progress photos because I forget that I use the content in my business too. 😂

I love that you make hats just for the fun of it!
Haha I’m the same I get half way through a project and think “oh I should have taken pictures!” Haha

I am working on a dress for myself and, kid you not, just realized 8 never took a progress photo! I am 4 rows into the bottom of the bust and kicking myself. 😅

Haha noo! I’m trying to get better at progress photos but sometimes I’m too much on a roll to stop for pictures!

i think it’s incredible to feel so inspired all the time. You may not have time for everything you want to make, but it’d be worse to have zero creativity or passion. I’ve found also that having to squeeze in time for artistic endeavors keeps them at “treat myself” status. Good for people with ADHD.

I like to keep a notebook on me in case I get inspired by something, but it definitely is a once per month thing, haha!
Ooo, that’s a good point. I definitely love the “treat myself” status!

I totally understand. I don’t have time in the morning to crochet but I have a couple of hours at night. I do the same thing. Coffee in hand and a show worth binge listening too lol!
